Three days of classic Scottish winter mountaineering! Your first day will start by learning the basics of winter mountaineering; this will include basic rope technique, building snow pack belays and snow analysis. Base location

Our Intro to Winter Mountaineering course will be held in the West Highlands of Scotland. Fort William will be our base location which will give us plenty of opportunity to use very accessible mountain venues such as Glencoe and Aonach Mor. Full details will be sent out with confirmation of your booking.

Previous experience

The Scottish hills can be a harsh environment so please come prepared to be out on the hill in the winter weather. Prior knowledge of rope skills are not a requirement, you will be taught from scratch on this course. You will however need some winter walking experience, particularly ice axe and crampon technique as we will be stepping it up a gear over the three days to gather as much mountaineering knowledge as possible. A good level of fitness will enable you to get the most out of your holiday.

Cost Includes

The course fee includes instruction, technical equipment and transport from base location to daily venue. It does not include accommodation; guests can then make their own arrangements depending on personnel budget. We have limited amounts of ice axes available so please get in touch if you wish to hire anything well in advance of your course date.

Course price does not include

Accommodation, personnel equipment, insurance, food or transport to base location
