Scrambling Skills 1:6 On this one day course you will learn the basic skills needed to tackle UK graded scrambles. We aim to use non-technical terrain to learn the skills necessary to travel safely on UK scrambles independently. Please note this is not a guided day on established routes. Course dates On request May – November 2010 Arrival Time 0830 Base location For our one day Scrambling Skills course we use the very picturesque Glen Clova situated just to the North of Dundee. At this superb location we gain easy access to broken terrain to learn the necessary skills to scramble in the UK. Full details will be sent out with confirmation of your booking. Previous experience The Scottish hills can be a harsh environment so please come prepared to be out on the hill in typical Scottish weather. Prior knowledge of rope skills are not a requirement, you will be taught from scratch on this course. A good level of fitness will enable you to get the most out of your course. Cost Includes The course fee includes instruction and technical equipment. It does not include accommodation; guests can then make their own arrangements depending on personnel budget. We have limited amounts of harnesses and helmets available so please get in touch if you wish to hire anything well in advance of your course date. Introduction to Scrambling 1:2 Directed at the experienced hill walker this course will introduce you to entry level scrambling and cover the skills needed to tackle graded terrain independently. Over the two days you will learn to use basic techniques and equipment whilst developing your knowledge of what it takes to scramble graded scrambles in the UK Mountains. If you are thinking of widening the opportunities available to you in the Scottish hills, travelling to the Alps or Greater ranges scrambling can greatly increase your competence on slightly more difficult terrain.
