Winter Skills and Walking 1:6 Our three day winter walking course aims to initially teach the basic winter skills needed to safely travel through Scottish Winter terrain such as; correct boot, crampon and ice axe techniques, self arrest and winter route planning (conditions permitting). The following two days will be spent putting your new found skills into practise as we take on some of Scotland’s classic winter walks. Course dates Please see our diary for availability and course dates. For group bookings please get in touch. Arrival Time 0830 Base location Our winter skills and walking course will be held on the West Coast of Scotland. This will give us plenty of opportunity to use very accessible mountain venues to make the most of your three days holiday. We will meet up initially in Fort William where we can then travel for the best hill conditions on the day. Full details will be sent out with confirmation of your booking. Alternatively group bookings of 3 or more can decide on their preferred location, this may be in the Southern Highlands, North West Highlands or Cairngorms National Park. Previous experience The Scottish hills can be a harsh environment so please come prepared to be out on the hill in the winter weather. This is not a climbing course so there is no requirement to have any prior experience of ropes or technical terrain; all that we ask for is a good standard of fitness to be able to get the most out of your holiday. Cost Includes The course fee includes instruction, it does not include accommodation. Guests can then make their own arrangements depending on personnel budget. We have limited amounts of ice axes available so please get in touch if you wish to hire anything well in advance of your course date. Course price does not include Accommodation, equipment, insurance, food or transport to base location Book a place Please complete a booking form (here) and return to steve@verticalfever.co.uk or post to: Vertical Fever Once we have confirmed a place on your chosen course you will be sent an invoice with terms and methods of payment.
